Countrywise returns for a brand-new series, produced for the first time by Shiver. We hope we’ve given it a new look and a fresh approach that will appeal to viewers of the programme old and new.
Exploring the best of Britain’s coast and country, and joining series regular, farming and agricultural expert Paul Heiney, will be new and exciting additions: intrepid adventurer Ben Fogle and wildlife biologist Liz Bonnin.
Immersing viewers in the changing face and hidden beauty of rural Britain, the fresh mix of items in the new series will explore our countryside’s best stories and key issues, encompassing wildlife, conservation, farming, science and along the way meeting those who live and work there. In the first episode Liz will be investigating why our butterfly population is in decline and how we can all help to conserve this beautiful, delicate insect.
Meanwhile, Ben is in Wales where he takes a look at the beautiful patchwork countryside on the edge of the Brecon beacons, a natural canvas for wildlife and plants…and lavender.
Paul pays a visit to Shropshire to get a sense of just how big an impact the recent weather extremes have had on the people who live and work in the countryside there. Over the last few years farmers have had everything thrown at them, and various parts of the country were deluged by a brutal late snowfall this March, with hundreds of farmers losing livestock in the bitter conditions.
The team also pays a visit to the town of Looe, once one of the busiest ports on the Cornish coast.
Perfect Monday viewing for all the family.
Countrywise starts on ITV, Monday 2nd September at 8pm, continuing for eight weeks.
