Ben Fogle joins Shiver as he presents Harbour Lives – exploring the wonders of his childhood stomping ground, Dorset.
Dorset is home to one of Britain’s most dramatic coastlines with its craggy cliffs, miles of stunning sandy beaches and four million visitors every year.
Now, in this brand new series for ITV, presenter Ben Fogle sets out to explore the county, taking in everything from the millionaires’ playground of Sandbanks, to the trawlers in the harbour, to find out what makes the area unique.
He’s going on a journey journey deep into the heart of beautiful Dorset. It’s where Ben himself grew up and he says he couldn’t have wished for a more amazing playground. But it’s not just the spectacular landscape that makes this area of the world unique. Throughout this series Ben visits the colourful characters that make up the fabric of Dorset life.
As he’ll discover, Dorset is a world of rich contrasts.
In the first episode, Ben looks at the millionaires’ playground aspect of the beautiful county as he meets an estate agent who gives him a guided tour of one of the most expensive properties in Dorset.
He also meets the man who gave up his city life to set up a polo club, plus he pulls on his sou’westers and heads out to sea with a ninth generation fisherman.
Ben starts his journey at Sandbanks, dubbed Britain’s answer to Monte Carlo. He meets up with estate agent Adrian Dunford who reveals that his company sold £50m worth of property last year.
Also in the programme, Ben meets Joe Miller, a fisherman whose family have been fishing in the area for nine generations. Joe takes Ben out on his trawler as he explains that he fishes the water and his wife sells the fish in their local shop.
Ben helps Joe bring in the catch of the day as Joe says: “Fishing is in my blood. You’ve got to keep the family traditions going.”
Harbour Lives, presented by Ben Fogle and produced by Shiver is new and exclusive to ITV. From Friday 14th June, 8pm.
