Tales from Northumberland With Robson Green
Over three series actor Robson Green explored his home county and the hidden jewel in England’s tourism crown – Northumberland.
In the first series Robson returned to home turf to reveal why Northumberland remained for him a magical and mysterious ancient kingdom, with extraordinary sights like Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island. He stargazed into the darkest skies in England – and found himself under attack from birds in the wilderness.
Having visited many of the county’s most famous landmarks, in the second series Robson explored the hidden gems of this beautiful corner of England – from its remote valleys and mystical ruins to the hidden history of its castles and stately homes. He dived amongst shipwrecks off the Farne Islands, wild camped in the Cheviot hills and dug for Roman relics at Hadrian’s Wall.
In each episode in series three Robson tackled a different journey through Northumberland: from hiking the Pennine Way, to travelling along the border with Scotland; from travelling by air to getting a bird’s eye view of the region, to following the route of the River Tyne.
Robson took on exciting new experiences – including sailing a hundred year old tall ship in the North Sea, fell running in the Cheviot Hills, leading the Rothbury Pipe Band in a commemorative parade through the town, flying a glider over the National Park and ringing osprey chicks in Kielder Forest.
