The Game Show Story

Presented by Bradley Walsh, Come On Down! The Game Show Story is a four-part series revealing the definitive history of the TV game show.

Featuring classic archive and interviews with some of the biggest names in entertainment, this series charts the key moments in game show history and tells the story behind some of Britain’s best-loved shows.

A self-confessed game show fanatic (and, of course, game show presenter) Bradley shares his favourite moments as he embarks on a journey to discover just how the game show has kept Britain hooked for more than sixty years.

In the first in the series, Bradley meets game show legend Sir Bruce Forsyth and hears about an incredible game show career spanning six decades. We find out how the BBC and ITV battled it out for game show supremacy with The Generation Game and 3-2-1; and hear of the impact imported American game shows, like The Price Is Right, had on British television.

Sir Terry Wogan reveals the secrets behind Blankety Blank’s huge success; and we hear how and why television continues to revive and reboot game show classics like Celebrity Squares, Family Fortunes, and Mr and Mrs.

Come On Down! The Game Show Story also features interviews with game show stars past and present, including Ant and Dec, Carol Vorderman, Richard Osman, Phillip Schofield, Vernon Kay, Les Dennis, Jim Bowen, Stephen Mulhern, Ben Shephard and Bamber Gascoigne.

Airs on ITV, Saturday 7pm for four weeks; starting Sunday 7th August.
